February 2018 Check In!

February 26, 2018

Rise and shine dolls!

It’s Monday, and the last few days of February. We are two months in to 2018 and it is time to see where we are at tackling those 2018 Resolutions. Or resolution.

My New Year’s Resolution Post is here if you missed it. For a brief synopsis my goal this year was to be as fearless as possible. However you take that, run with it. It could be jumping out of an airplane if someone offers the experience, buying a home which is a huge financial undertaking, or just not giving a shit what anyone thinks. I gave myself such a broad resolution in order to apply it to any facet of my life.

It is important to keep your goals at the forefront of your mind. I forgot what I was listening to, it may have been The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast, but there was some goal setting advice that stuck with me regardless of where I heard it. It is more efficient and productive to set short term goals of roughly 1-2 months, and a few long term goals of 5-7 years. One to two months is your very near present, which allows you to get from A to B faster. Five to seven years is big picture. Where do you want to be? How do you get there? Your short term goals allow you to tackle issues as they come verses getting disheveled when things don’t go as planned. Do they ever go as planned?

I know for myself if I set a goal of going to the gym five times a week for six months, it seems like such an undertaking. However, if I tell myself to make it fives time in a week, it is a bit more manageable. In a one to two month period I am able to go to the gym consistently, and in five to seven years I will be living a healthier lifestyle that is more of a routine than a chore.

“Motivation gets you going and habit gets you there.” – Zig Ziglar.

2018 is about staying motivated towards your goals and aspirations, but you won’t get there without the discipline to push through. Challenge yourself to check in every month, and make sure you are hitting those milestones to get you to where you want to be.

Keep kicking ass, friends.

-xx, Lauren.
