Eternal Youth Part 1

It seems collagen is everywhere. Not literally everywhere, but I feel like it is a buzz going around. It’s in numerous beauty products and even protein powders.

Collagen, simply put, is the protein in your body that gives structure to your hair, skin, nails, bones, ligaments, etc.

While we are young there is an abundant amount of collagen in our bodies. It seems as if once you hit your mid-twenties and that quarter life crisis kicks in, life starts to roll downhill. Theatrics, I’m not being literal.

What is literal is the fact that starting in your mid-twenties collagen productions begins to slow down by 1-2% every year. AND to pour salt in that wound, you can’t get what you lost back. Do we hear our mothers saying prevention, prevention, prevention?

I was first introduced to Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides through a friend. When I tell you this woman has the most flawless skin, it is no exaggeration. She could come fresh from a workout and it would look like she just had the most life changing hydra facial on the planet. I had to know her tips and tricks or I needed the number for her esthetician.

Much to my product loving dismay, her routine was quite minimal. A few tried and true drugstore products. The biggest thing she attributed her glow, suppleness, and lack of wrinkles to was her use of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides.

I kid you not, I bought them the very next day.

I have since consumed them religiously every morning since June. I swear, two scoops every morning in my coffee.

Well folks, I am here to tell you my thoughts…

I LOVE THEM. It took one month to notice a difference in my gut and my skin.

I was having digestive issues with whey proteins. I would add them to my oatmeal or in a shake, and almost immediately I would have a stomach ache.

I originally blamed the discomfort on the oats or a food item I had eaten that day that wasn’t in my normal routine. As soon as I switched from whey protein to Vital Proteins, the discomfort ceased immediately. I noticed I was less bloated after about a week as well.

I think an added benefit to Vital Proteins over Whey is the fact that you are removing a serving of dairy from your diet. Dairy has a bad rep for being the culprit for an onslaught of issues. Damn you dairy, why are you so tasty.

My skin was the second area I noticed improvement. My dry skin issues subsided even though I still have a random bouts of it. I also noticed more of a natural glow and that my face shape was beginning to look a little less tired.

If I haven’t sold you already, I have several friends who can vouch that they too enjoy this product. I pester my mom quite regularly to start taking it, and I have finally been able to convince Victor to make the switch as well. He’s only a few months in. Let’s let the man form an opinion of his own (yeahhhhh right).

Vital Proteins allows you to add collagen to your diet in many forms. Their newest additions are Collagen Peptides Matcha powder & Collagen Peptides Coffee Creamer! While the nutrition facts are slightly more favorable on the plain jane Collagen Peptides, I wouldn’t mind testing some of their other products.

I am all for preserving my youth as much as I can. If a supplement like Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides is the answer, then count me a life time buyer!

What is your tried and true beauty item that you rely on for eternal youth?
